Larval feeding type: Forms a tentiform leaf-mine on the underside, then feeds in a leaf edge folded downwards; pupates in a silken cocoon away from the feeding area
Larval substrate: Betula populifolia* (Gray Birch), Betula papyrifera* (Paper Birch)
Phenology: Adult: 6/07 to 7/09 (2 records)
Comment: Similar to P. betulae, but the white plical spot usually reaches the dorsum. The following black spot is usually more prominent and often square. However, there is a lot of variation and genitalia dissection is the most reliable way to distinguish them.
