Larval feeding type: Forms a tentiform leaf-mine on the underside, then feeds in a leaf edge folded downwards; pupates in a silken cocoon away from the feeding area
Larval substrate: Betula populifolia* (Gray Birch)
Comment: Similar to P. loganella, but the white plical spot generally does not reach the dorsum and the following black spot is usually not prominent and also doesn't reach the dorsum. However, there is a lot of variation and genitalia dissection is the most reliable way to distinguish them.
