Comment: The only MA Sesiid species which is regularly attracted to light. A specific pheromone lure is also commercially available. It can be confused with both S. acerrubri and Carmenta corni (both have an all-orange tip to the abdomen in the female), but this species has no white on the antennae. The female is very different, with dark forewings, orange thorax and base and tip of the abdomen.
