Larval feeding type: Feeds in the flower and pupates in the stem; it overwinters in the pupal stage
Larval substrate: Tanacetum vulgare (Common Tansy), rarely also Achillea ptarmica
Phenology: Adult: 7/04 to 8/07 (8 records)

Comment: Specimens in MA are often found on tansy, the foodplant of I. striatella, so similar specimens previously entered as I. magnella have been moved to I. striatella. I. magnella may not occur in the East. More research needs to be done to clarify the species identity in MA.

Status in N. America: Introduced
MA Endangered Species Act status: None
First Year Reported: 2008
Last Year Reported: 2021
