Larval substrate: Alnus (Alder), Betula (Birch)
Phenology: Adult: 6/22 to 9/25 (50 records)
Comment: Meyrick distinguished his A. calliphanes from A. goedartella by the pure white head and thorax (instead of golden) and as all Massachusetts 'goedartella' have white heads and thorax, they are likely to be all A. calliphanes. The DNA barcodes are also different between the European and North American specimens. Even within North America, the species will probably be split into more than one species.
