Larval substrate: Various trees and herbaceous plants, incl. Nepeta cataria (Catnip), Solidago (Goldenrod), Glechoma hederacea (Ground Ivy), Cornus (Dogwood)
Phenology: Adult: 6/06 to 7/20 and 8/01 to 9/04 (95 records)

Comment: Rindge (1978) in his revision of the genus gives the following forewing lengths: Male: 13-22mm; female: 14-23mm. These overlap somewhat with X. sospeta, but males with FW length <=16mm and females with FW length <=18mm are likely to be X. urticaria.
