Larval substrate: Deciduous trees and shrubs, incl. Tilia (Basswood), Vaccinium (Blueberry), Prunus (Cherry), Ribes (Currant), Ulmus (Elm), Acer (Maple), Rosa (Rose), Viburnum
Phenology: Adult: 6/09 to 8/14 (45 records)
Comment: Rindge (1978) in his revision of the genus gives the following forewing lengths: Male: 17-23mm; female: 19-25mm. These overlap considerably with X. urticaria, but female specimens with FW length >=24mm are likely to be X. sospeta. This species appears to have just one generation, whereas X. urticaria has two.
