Phenology: Adult: 6/02 to 8/11 (7 records)
Comment: Pheromone specific for this species is commercially available. It can be mistaken for Carmenta corni, but the discal spot is smaller and not so rectangular. The abdomen has rings and lacks the yellowish sprinkling of C. corni. The legs are more whitish and black rather than yellowish and black. S. acerni can also be similar, but has no white on the antennae.
