Comment: Probole spp. are difficult to separate and it had been unofficially proposed in a Master's Thesis by T.J.Tomon in 2007 that there was just a single variable species. However, current genetic information strongly suggests there are at least two species within this genus and all species were retained in the recent NA checklist (Pohl & Nanz, 2023). Until a full taxonomic study has been done, existing records for each species are retained.
