Sort #: 1491 | P #: 800689.11 | MPG #: 5533.85
View on BugGuide | BOLD Link

Larval substrate: Unknown
Phenology: Adult: 6/17 to 7/24 (15 records)

Comment: Appears to be a Pine Barrens specialist. Similar to H. olinalis, but the fore- and hindwings are darker, usually a uniform chocolate brown, with no trace of orange or yellow in the fringes. The dark crosslines are usually very indistinct, but can be a little more prominent in some specimens, especially when they are worn. It could then be confused with some forms of H. thymetusalis, but that species generally has a more prominent crossline on the hindwings. Some H. binodulalis can also be similar, but that species has pale, not dark, crosslines.
