Larval feeding type: Feeds in the cones, on seeds
Larval substrate: Pinus spp., esp. Pinus strobus (Eastern White Pine), also Picea mariana (Black Spruce), Pseudotsuga menziesii (Coast Douglas Fir)
Phenology: Adult: 5/24 to 7/26 (19 records)
Comment: Old records of H. villella from Martha's Vineyard most likely to refer to this species and are placed here until specimens are found for confirmation. BugGuide claims (under immaculella) that villella is a western species, but it was described from Maryland! No figures of the genitalia (or those of the synonym H.angusti) have been published, so it is currently impossible to distinguish from immaculella. See also the next two species, Calosima argyrosplendella and C. dianella.
