Larval substrate: Coniferous trees, incl. Abies balsamea (Balsam Fir), Tsuga canadensis (Eastern Hemlock), Picea (Spruce), Larix laricina (American Larch, Tamarack)
Phenology: Adult: 3/20 to 5/17 (125 records)

Comment: On average, slightly smaller than F. major, typically has white AM and PM lines edged on both sides with black. Orbicular and reniform spots ringed white, outwardly edged with black and filled with green. The space between can have black scales, but not as much as in F. major.
