Larval substrate: Reported to feed on Cryptoporus volvatus fungus growing on dead conifers
Phenology: Adult: 5/17 and 7/02 (2 records)

Comment: Some authors continue to use the European species name fuliginosella (L&Z, 1846) until further taxonomic work is done, but the North American taxon is clearly genetically distinct from the European species, so we are keeping the name carbonella for now.
