Comment: Donacaula species are notoriously difficult to identify due to a large within-species variation; species should be id'd by genitalia or DNA until we have an idea of the extent of variation among the local species. Reference: Martinez, E.L., 2010. A revision of the New World species of Donacaula Meyrick and a phylogenetic analysis of related Schoenobiinae (Lepidoptera: Crambidae). Mississippi State University, 1-234. This revision was a PhD dissertation and was unfortunately not officially published, therefore the names given to the newly described species within this work are not valid. This puts the taxonomy of this genus in limbo. The DNA BIN assignments given under each species must be considered provisional.
