Larval feeding type: European species of the genus are known to feed on various parts of the foodplants, pupating in the stem
Larval substrate: Unknown, but presumably marsh or aquatic plants, e.g. Carex, Phragmites, Scirpus, Spartina
Phenology: Adult: 7/03 to 7/19 (6 records)

Comment: The male is similar to D. longirostrallus, except that the apical line does not go directly through the apex, but hits the costa just before the apex and this line is often curved. D. longirostrallus is also usually a whitish to pale lemon color and is also slightly smaller. Females could be mistaken for some forms of female D. aquilellus and D. nitidellus.
