Chelariini sp. BOLD:AEV3403

Sort #: 1045 | P #: 590452.1 | MPG #: 2256.1
View on BugGuide | BOLD Link

Larval substrate: Unknown
Phenology: Adult: 6/18 to 8/29 (10 records)

Comment: Appears to be very similar to an undescribed species from Oklahoma (BOLD:AAH5574), which has the same scale tufts on the forewing costa, but its genetic nearest neighbors come from Malaysia, China and Australia. This might suggest it has been introduced from eastern Asia. Currently in Bugguide under Chelariini, but this is very tentative and may be an incorrect placement.

Status in MA (automated assessment): Restricted distribution, uncommon
Status in N. America: Unknown
MA Endangered Species Act status: None
First Year Reported: 2019
Last Year Reported: 2024

Distribution by County: Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, Barnstable
