Larval feeding type: leaf-miner initially, then feeding externally
Larval substrate: Quercus rubra* (Northern Red Oak), Q. palustris (Pin Oak), Castanea (Chestnut)
Phenology: Adult: 5/25 to 7/28 (6 records)

Comment: Markings are normally silvery (according to the key in Braun (1963)), but they can sometimes be more whitish and such specimens can be confused with B. coronatella (Birch) or B. improvisa (Basswood) and then genitalia dissections are necessary
