Comment: Large species, very similar to B. solidaginiella and could easily be mistaken for it. In B. montana the medial basal streak generally extends from the base to where the costal and dorsal streaks join. In B. solidaginiella it extends to just beyond 1/3 and becomes wider. In B. montana the black apical fringe streak extends in line with the axis of the wing, whereas in B. solidaginiella it is strongly angled up to the apex. In photos, the angle can be a bit deceiving. B. solidaginiella tends to have a rougher appearance, whereas B. montana appears smoother.
