Larval feeding type: Leaf-miner, never feeding exposed. It initially forms a long linear track, but then forms a new 'more or less trumpet-shaped' blotch mine. Pupates in a white ribbed cocoon.
Larval substrate: Symphyotrichum novae-angliae (New England American-aster), Symphyotrichum novi-belgii (New York American-aster), Symphyotrichum laeve* (Smooth American-aster), Symphyotrichum laterifolium* (Calico American-aster), Erigeron (Fleabane), Solidago (Goldenrod)
Phenology: Adult: 5/16 to 10/15 (12 records)

Comment: There are two quite distinct DNA BINs for this species in BOLD and both could occur in MA.
