Sort #: 1220 | P #: 591501.1 | MPG #: 1460.1
View on BugGuide | BOLD Link

Larval substrate: Unknown, see comment.
Phenology: Adult: 4/20 to 5/09 (4 records)

Comment: Apparently an undescribed species. Visually similar to B. bicristatella, but a bit larger (15-17mm WS). Genetically however, its closest relative is the European species Spuleria flavicaput. That species feeds in the terminal twigs of hawthorn, so maybe this species does the same, in black cherry perhaps.

Status in N. America: Native
MA Endangered Species Act status: None
First Year Reported: 1982
Last Year Reported: 2025

Distribution by County: Hampshire, Franklin, Plymouth, Barnstable
Number of Records: 4
