(Walsingham, 1907)

Sort #: 711 | P3 #: 421733 | MPG #: 1171
View on BugGuide | View on iNaturalist | BOLD Link

Larval substrate: Phylloxera aphid galls on Carya sp. (Hickory)
Phenology: Adult: 5/24 to 8/31 (29 records)

Comment: A. dives (and var. bassipallidella) and A. confluentella are synonyms and were described based on material from MA, PA and NH. There are several DNA barcodes under the name A. aphidiella and at least three are likely to occur in the State. Both A. dives (dark phenotype) and A. confluentella (contrasting phenotype) are therefore likely to be resurrected as separate species.

Status in MA (automated assessment): Fairly widespread, fairly common
Status in N. America: Native
MA Endangered Species Act status: None
First Year Reported: 1907
Last Year Reported: 2021

Distribution by County: Hampshire, Franklin, Worcester, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, Dukes, Nantucket
Number of Records: 32
