Walsingham, 1890

Sort #: 382 | P3 #: 360161 | MPG #: 2455
View on BugGuide | View on iNaturalist | BOLD Link

Larval feeding type: leaf-miner
Larval substrate: Juniperus virginiana* (Eastern Red Cedar)
Phenology: Adult: 6/06 to 7/09 (4 records)

Comment: The differences between A. freyella and A. canadensis adults are unclear. Freeman claimed that the median white basal streak of canadensis reaches 1/4 and in freyella it reaches 1/2, the costal basal streaks reach 1/4 and 1/3 respectively. However, there appears to be a lot of variation. Male genitalia are figure by Freeman and the two species have different host plants. The specimens in BOLD under freyella cannot be that species as they do not have a white head or thorax.
