Larval substrate: Helianthus hirsutus (Hairy Sunflower), Helianthus mollis (Ashy Sunflower), Helianthus strumosus (Pale-leaved Sunflower), Ambrosia trifida (Giant Ragweed), Symphyotrichum cordifolium (Heart-leaved American-aster)

Comment: Landry (1991) Mem.ent.Soc.Can. 160, 344pp. (p. 327). There are two DNA barcodes under this name, but the one occurring in Massachusetts is probably BOLD:ABW0072, which is all black, with no white markings. It can therefore be confused with Scythris pilosella, S. fuscicomella or S. eborencis. Please retain specimens for dissection.
