Comment: Often confused with the small dark males of E. obliteralis, but this species is generally even smaller, FW length 3-5.5mm. The species has relatively long and narrow wings sprinkled with a few bluish-gray scales, sometimes forming a very faint spot. The abdomen is not or only very weakly banded. Females have much shorter antennae than the males.
