Larval substrate: Unknown
Phenology: Adult: 5/25 to 8/30 (28 records)

Comment: This is a dark form of 'H. chalcofrontella', with a distinct barcode. It is mostly uniformly gray-brown, sometimes with pale gray mixed in, sometimes darker, often with the three dark spots circled with paler scales. There may be additional dark forms with separate barcodes still to be discovered in Massachusetts. This appears to be the more commonly encountered form.
